Hello, Cupcake!
The company I work for is having a bake sale next week to raise money for Off the Street Club to send 500 Chicago kids to summer camp. I just got a Hello, Cupcake! book from Jeff’s mom as an Easter gift, so my colleague, Meg, and I set aside our Saturday afternoon (5 hours, actually) to explore the world of creative cupcaking.
We made about 30 cupcakes, but the 12 “camper cupcakes” were by far the most effort. We used quite a creative list of ingredients:
- Air Heads to make the blankets (microwave for three seconds and roll out on parchment paper)
- Oreo Mini Cakesters to make the heads
- Mashmellows to make the bodies and pillows
- Teddy Grahams for the teddy bears
- Leftover Air Heads to make the lips and hair bows
- Melted Ghiardelli chocolate (since we have plenty) for the eyes and teddy bear glue
- Colored frosting to make the hair

That sounds like a lot of work!
It definitely was – but we had a lot of fun doing it :)
Allie, these are SO ADORABLE! I volunteer with a nonprofit called Drop In & Decorate. We encourage people to have cookie-decorating parties and donate the goods to charities. SO much fun, if you’re ever interested let me know and I’ll send you info.
That’s such a cool idea, I want to do it! Maybe I can have a fondue eating/cookie decorating party in one.
Those are amazing! They make me hungry.
I have that book too! let’s team up sometime and bake the crap out of cute cupcakes!
Wow, those are amazing! I’m especially partial to Sprinkles cupcakes, but those camper ones are adorable!
